Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx candidly shared his feelings after narrowly surviving a stroke that nearly killed him.
On the 28th (local time), according to U.S. outlet Entertainment Weekly, Jamie Foxx recently appeared on the podcast "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" and spoke frankly about recovering from the 2023 stroke that nearly cost him his life.
When asked about the situation at the time, he pointed upward and said, "I was talking to him (God). 'It's me. I'm the one who makes people smile. Look at those bad people out there. Why me of all people?'"
He went on to say that he understood those people belonged to someone else and that it was now his time.
Jamie Foxx said, "I couldn't understand it, and the parts I remember, like rehabilitation therapy, I remember being frustrating," and added, "I remember people saying, 'You got a second chance.' I replied, 'What second chance? What was wrong with my first chance?'"
He said comedy helped him get through it. He explained, "Because comedy was the only thing I could lean on, the medical staff couldn't properly check my condition. I was always joking," and that whenever medical staff tried to assess his recovery, he would mimic other people's voices.
About that, he said, "But that was the only way I could get through it. It was the only way to find myself," and added, "After all of this passed, I went back to see the 60 nurses who saved my life."
He added that one of the nurses at the Atlanta hospital where he was treated told him, "Less than 3% of people who come in here in the same condition as you walk out. Usually they go into a coffin. It's a miracle."
Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx was rushed to the emergency room in April 2023 after suffering mysterious "medical complications." His family decided to keep it secret at the time, but the following year he confessed on a broadcast that he had experienced a stroke.
