Rapper Swings, using his real name Moon ji-hoon, has taken on acting, and it was revealed that after appearing in the film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub he received a love call from actor Byun Yo-Han.
On the 29th broadcast of KBS2 The Seasons-Sung Si-kyung's Ear Candy, he appeared not as Swings but as "actor Moon ji-hoon," taking on a new challenge. Moon ji-hoon said, "I'm currently in actor Moon ji-hoon mode," and began talking about acting.
Sung Si Kyung welcomed his move into a new field. He said that even if people have things they want to do, few actually put them into action, and he praised Moon ji-hoon for taking on acting.
Acting was not a sudden interest for Moon ji-hoon. He recalled, "Since I was a baby I watched movies with my family. I grew up loving movies." However, he said he never thought he himself could act. While expressing himself through rap, he harbored a longing for another form of expression. He described acting as "a noble and cool art" and said he had long admired it. Eventually, he gathered the courage the year before last, started attending an acting academy, and turned his vague dream into reality.
The reason his acting challenge became known to the world was also accidental. At his teacher's suggestion he released his acting video, and contrary to expectations there were quite a few negative reactions. But Moon ji-hoon said, "There were enough people in the minority who cheered me on," and that that support continued to give him the strength to keep challenging himself.
One of that "minority" was Byun Yo-Han. Byun Yo-Han said that while drinking with Koo Kyo-hwan he happened to come across Moon ji-hoon's acting video through an algorithm. He recalled thinking "it's great" and at the same time wondering, "but why isn't he acting?"
It did not end as mere curiosity. Byun Yo-Han said, "From the next day it lingered for a week," and explained, "whether clumsy, unskilled, or good acting, the afterimage remained." Later, when the Tazza team was struggling to find the right person for a character, Moon ji-hoon's video reappeared in the algorithm, and Byun Yo-Han eventually contacted him directly.
The opportunity came to Moon ji-hoon much sooner than he had expected. He confessed that even after starting acting he thought, "for about five years nothing would happen." But unexpectedly he joined a large-scale film. In particular, Byun Yo-Han remembered the words Moon ji-hoon left as they parted, "It's a strange night." Moon ji-hoon also looked back on his first film opportunity, saying, "I thought something like this could happen. It was strange."
After hearing the story, Sung Si Kyung said, "Moon ji-hoon's acting makes you want to see it," and added, "I want to cheer him on. I hope he does well. He's really great," lending his support to the new challenge.
