Former basketball player Han Ki-beom revealed that he once went into business, was defrauded and that his entire family went through a difficult time.
On the 26th, MBN's "Exclusive World" aired a story about Han Ki-beom and his family, who are living a new life after his retirement.
That day Han Ki-beom recalled the time after he ended his playing career when he tried a business that made use of his tall stature. However, he said he trusted recommendations from people around him and invested, was scammed, and lost not only the money he had saved but also the house he had been living in. As a result, the family was driven into such financial hardship that they had to move to a hillside neighborhood and live in a small rented room.
The shock at the time shook not only Han Ki-beom but the entire family. His wife, An Mi-ae, said that as the economic difficulties continued she suffered panic disorder and depression. In particular, she cautiously revealed the seriously troubling fact at the time, saying, "I developed panic disorder."
Han Ki-beom also carried remorse for not being able to protect his family as the head of the household. He blamed himself, saying it seemed that the wounds he left at the time affected his inability to communicate smoothly with his children.
But instead of collapsing, the couple rebuilt their livelihood. Han Ki-beom expressed his gratitude to his wife, who entered the front lines of supporting the household, saying, "If you put her in charge of something, she does it well. She is proactive and talented."
