Singer Joo-yi, formerly of the group Momoland, is beginning a career as a musical actress.
Joo-yi met audiences on the 21st at The Good Theater in Seoul through the musical "Caffeine."
The musical "Caffeine," starring Joo-yi, is an original musical set against the backdrop of the cafe "Love is…," where coffee and wine coexist as of 6 p.m., and Joo-yi plays Se-jin, the cafe "Love is…" manager and barista.
She is a character who goes to work at the cafe every morning and expresses her thoughts on love by leaving "Love is…" on the chalkboard. Known for a bright and bold persona, Joo-yi portrayed Se-jin's traits in a varied way through her own facial expressions and speech.
In particular, Joo-yi enlivened the production with witty expressions and a lovable presence, and she carried and led the play's core by naturally syncing with her co-actors.
Joo-yi said, "I am so happy to have successfully completed the first performance as Se-jin in the musical 'Caffeine.'" She added, "I want to sincerely thank all the staff and fellow actors who helped until the performance went up," and said, "Honestly, it still doesn't feel real, but I want to become a Joo-yi who grows even more during the remaining performances."
