The episode of KBS 2TV's 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' airing on Aug. 27 (Thu) at 8:30 p.m. (hereinafter 'Fun-Staurant') will reveal the story of K-pop idol legend 김재중's activities in Japan. Though he is a top star loved not only in Korea but also across Japan and Asia, 김재중's thrifty and meticulous daily life is expected to bring joyful laughter to living rooms on Thursday evening.
In the VCR shown that day, 김재중 warmly greeted the 'Fun-Staurant' production team that came to Tokyo. He then opened his Tokyo house, where he lives and works in Japan, to the public for the first time in his 23-year career. Above all, the open kitchen, perfect for the cooking-loving 김재중, grabbed attention.
Inside the refrigerator shown next were kimchi that 김재중 had made himself, various Korean seasonings such as red pepper powder, and carefully prepared frozen ingredients. 김재중 said, "I always make kimchi myself even in Japan," explaining why he has no choice but to make his own kimchi. Hearing this, the 'Fun-Staurant' members said, "He is really thrifty," and "He is a good homemaker," expressing astonishment. So why does 김재중 make kimchi himself even in Japan?
Shortly after, 김재중 returned carrying a bag full of ingredients bought on sale along with a mart sale flyer. Meanwhile, through 'Fun-Staurant,' 김재중 displayed for the first time on broadcast the mansion he owns in Tokyo. An elevator is installed inside the house, and the kitchen, bedroom and bathrooms are decorated in top quality, drawing admiration.
Debuting in 2004 as part of the group 동방신기, 김재중 left the group and went through JYJ to become a solo singer; he now runs an agency that houses singers and actors. He also established two companies on prime land in Mapo District. Remaining a top star for more than 20 years and active between Korea and Japan, rumors of 1 trillion won in assets surfaced, and 김재중 said, "When I was talking with Joo Woo-jae before, we joked that 'we must have made 100 billion won.' Calculating before tax, if you only saved for 23 years, 'you must have made around that much..' That joke on YouTube became 1 trillion won."
