Broadcaster Kim Sae-rom revealed how her views on marriage changed after her divorce.
Kim Sae-rom uploaded a video titled "Please marry someone like this!!! Kim Sae-rom: conditions for marriage in your 40s to enjoy with a drink" on her YouTube channel "Get a grip Kim Sae-rom" on the 26th.
That day Kim Sae-rom invited a couple she knows for a meal. She said, "What kind of marriage style do you think suits me?" and said, "I have to let go, but there's a difference between saying you'll let go and actually letting go."
She then emphasized, "But I really let go."
The acquaintance said, "It's not the feeling of 'I should let go' but when you meet someone you want to marry, you develop the feeling that you should let go for that person. Marriage seems to be about whether I can fit to this person. That seems a bit more important."
Kim Sae-rom said, "From my perspective, in your 20s everyone has become an adult so each person's own charm stands out. It seems people choose based on charm."
She continued, "Starting in your 30s people begin to think about marriage, so from then on they start to consider conditions a bit. As they weigh looks, assets, job, academic background, it becomes harder."
In particular, Kim Sae-rom said, "In my 40s, as I became a woman in her 40s, I look at charm like in my 20s. I let go of all those conditions and created living conditions I can manage by myself, and I only need to add one person. Someone who could free-ride on my life and that would be okay," drawing attention.
Kim Sae-rom was born in 1987; she married chef Lee Chan-o in 2015 but divorced in 2017.
Earlier in 2024 Kim Sae-rom said on TV CHOSUN's "Now I'm Alone", "Because the person next to me was kind, it was like being possessed and I married as if in a traffic accident. I married without predicting it." She added, "I'm the type who failed because I didn't listen to those around me. Everyone opposed it."
Kim Sae-rom said, "Because we met for such a short time, I was told many times to consider it carefully. At that time it felt like a racehorse not looking to either side, like a car without brakes." She married after four months of dating. However, Kim Sae-rom decided to divorce after one year and four months of marriage.
