The language development updates for comedian couple Kang Jae-joon and Lee Eun-hyeong's 24-month-old son, who was diagnosed as speaking more slowly than his peers, have been revealed.
On the 25th, the YouTube channel 'Giyu TV' posted a video titled '24-month-old who is so good at tearing jokbal.'
In the video, Kang Jae-joon and Lee Eun-hyeong ate jokbal with their son. During the meal Lee Eun-hyeong said, "Hyunjo said a new word today, right? Coconut. His words are increasing one by one."
The son said "keo keo keo keo," and Kang Jae-joon asked, "Was he talking about a cup?" as he gave him a cup. He added, "Hyunjo is trying to speak, though. It seems like Hyunjo is trying to grow."
Lee Eun-hyeong continued to practice speaking with their son, and Kang Jae-joon said in surprise, "His voice got a bit louder."
Earlier, the couple's son was diagnosed as speaking more slowly than his peers. The two said their son does not speak but understands everything in conversation, and a specialist said, "Looking at the developmental chart, Hyunjo has two concepts: language comprehension and expressive language, and comprehension is higher than expression. That means he knows much more of the context than he can say, so you should keep encouraging him to use simple expressions."
The specialist reviewed the developmental test results with the couple and advised, "In any case, being in the blue range is important. What made me relieved and think it's somewhat okay is that today he showed interaction, and his social skills are actually quite good. The expressive language the two of you worried about is lower compared with other areas, but it hasn't reached the borderline. There's no need to worry, and it would be good to wait while interacting."
He continued, "You might think, 'Why doesn't he talk much?' but when he becomes engrossed he forgets to speak," and added, "Hyunjo interacts with his parents like a machine that pulls out what he wants. Earlier, after taking a supplement the child held it and when he couldn't manage it he went to his mother. But the pace at which the mother speaks is much faster than how Hyunjo expresses things. Hyunjo doesn't need to speak."
Hearing this, Lee Eun-hyeong realized, "I did everything before he could say it," and the specialist said, "Normally, good interaction for language development happens when the child says 'mm' and you respond with 'Can't you get it out? Need help?' Right now, the baby actually has no timing to say 'Give it again' or 'Help me.'"
