Radio Star actor Hwang Seok-jung revealed behind-the-scenes stories from director Na Hong-jin's film shoot.
On the 26th episode of MBC's Radio Star, which aired, the show was presented as a "HOPE ATTACK" special featuring Hwang Seok-jung, Lee Jun-hyuk, Seo Eun-kwang and Yoo Young-woo.
Hwang Seok-jung, who was a scene-stealer in the film HOPE, said, "When I look at certain movie or drama scripts, there's a sense that this scene has to be funny. It has to be pulled off, but HOPE didn't have any of that at all," drawing attention.
He continued, "I didn't know what code to act in, and I found out that day (the shoot day). I couldn't directly ask (director Na Hong-jin)," he said frankly.
Hwang Seok-jung said, "I worked with director Na Hong-jin on three films," and mentioned the earlier films Hwanghae and The Wailing. He added, "Both film sets were extremely tense."
He went on, "I was scolded all the time. I was always chatting with the Chinese extras," he said, making the set burst into laughter.
Hwang Seok-jung vividly described the atmosphere on the set at the time, saying director Na Hong-jin would casually laugh and say, "Ah, senior, act once or twice," and Hwang Seok-jung would cheerfully reply, "Ha ha, I know," which also drew laughs.
