Kim Hyung-bae, a doctor of Korean medicine who is the boyfriend of influencer and entrepreneur Aoh-eui, apologized after making an incorrect remark about high fever.
On the 26th, doctor of Korean medicine Kim Hyung-bae said, "I sincerely apologize for causing confusion and concern with a recent comment I left regarding fever and taking antipyretics," and apologized, "It was a wrong expression for me to present a specific body temperature in my comment and say that you can endure up to a certain temperature."
He added, "What I intended to convey was not that you must endure a fever at all costs, but that rather than judging only by the number of the body temperature, you should consider the patient's overall condition, including age, health status and accompanying symptoms, to determine whether to take antipyretics or seek medical care," and bowed his head, saying, "However, separate from that intent, as a medical professional delivering health information I should have expressed myself more accurately and carefully. My failure to do so was my carelessness, and I apologize once again for causing confusion with an inaccurate explanation."
Previously, when asked about characteristics of families of Korean medicine doctors, Kim Hyung-bae said, "Even when we catch a cold, we do not take cold medicine. I think relying too much on medicine can cause you to lose the chance to strengthen your immunity. If you practice enduring a little when it's tough, a cold you used to get once a year can extend to two years, three years, five years. Looking back over the past 10 years, I actually caught a cold only about twice," he said.
When an internet user asked about fever symptoms, Kim Hyung-bae replied, "Adults can try enduring up to 39.4 degrees, and children up to 38.5 degrees," but the remark became problematic. The Group of Doctors for a Fair Society (Gong-uimo) said, "A high fever of 39.4 degrees can be a sign of life-threatening conditions such as encephalitis or sepsis, so advising people to wait wastes time finding the cause and is very dangerous," and noted, "A doctor who has actually treated patients would find it difficult to say that enduring up to 39.4 degrees is acceptable," issuing a statement.
Meanwhile, Aoh-eui married Seo Joo-won in 2018 but divorced in 2022. She recently acknowledged her relationship with the handsome doctor of Korean medicine Kim Hyung-bae, who appeared on cable TV, and has drawn attention by starting a "love-stagram."
