Broadcaster Park Soo-hong recently acknowledged and apologized for the inconvenience caused on a flight.
On the 26th, Park Soo-hong posted an apology on his social account saying, Hello, I am Park Soo-hong. Recently, during the airplane departure process, a delayed departure occurred because of my family. This caused great inconvenience by taking away many people's precious time, and it also caused damage to airline personnel. I bow my head and sincerely offer my apology.
Earlier, a post spread on online communities claiming that a person who had boarded the same Guam-bound flight with Park Soo-hong's family on the 23rd suffered inconvenience. At the time, after boarding the plane, Park Soo-hong said he wanted to get off because his child was crying, and after the checked baggage loading had proceeded, when the child stopped crying he reversed his decision and said he would reboard. Ultimately, the airline had to go through the process of reloading the baggage, and as a result the flight departure was delayed by about an hour.
Later, photos circulated appearing to show baggage believed to belong to Park Soo-hong's family being unloaded, and videos spread of Park Soo-hong repeatedly apologizing to other passengers on the plane, adding credibility. Then some argued that not only was he allowed to get off for personal reasons after the plane had already been prepared for departure, but that accepting the reversal of his decision after the baggage had been unloaded itself amounted to a special favor for a celebrity. Sharp reactions such as "a nuisance" and "disappointing" followed, criticizing Park Soo-hong's selfish judgment that did not consider the harm to the airline or other passengers that could occur during the process.
As the controversy spread, Park Soo-hong admitted his mistake and offered a direct apology. He explained the reason he said he wanted to get off, saying, At the time, as soon as we boarded the plane the child cried so much that I was flustered and made an immature judgment. I told the cabin crew I would get off because I thought the long flight time and the child's crying would cause greater harm to the passengers.
He added, While waiting (to get off) in the cabin the child stopped crying and we expressed the intention to reboard, but I did not realize that this could greatly delay things such as security checks. This happened entirely because of my ignorance of airline procedures and there is no excuse. Once again, I bow my head and deeply apologize to the passengers and airline personnel who suffered great damage because of my shortcomings.
Meanwhile, Park Soo-hong married Kim Da-ye, who is 23 years his junior, in 2021, and welcomed daughter Jae-i through in vitro fertilization in 2024.
