Cartoonist Heo Yeong, who halted activities due to health issues, has been reported to be recovering in hospital.
On the 26th, Heo Yeong's official account released a video along with the post, "We present special gifts to the people who appear in Heo Yeong's comic diary. We make a limited-edition print equal to the number of episode protagonists and deliver them. Meet the heartfelt production process in shorts."
The video included the production process with the message, "In a corner of the comic book storage there are about 50 comic diaries. There the episodes with people exist as comics. To share these memories, we produce limited-edition 'comic diaries' equal to the number of diary protagonists and give them as gifts to the protagonists."
In particular, alongside the video a comment drew attention saying, "Teacher Heo Yeong is slowly recovering his health in hospital," conveying Heo Yeong's condition. It appears that this update was provided by family or close associates on his behalf to inform and reassure those worried and cheering for him.
Heo Yeong halted activities in June due to health problems. According to sources at the time, Heo Yeong was receiving treatment in an intensive care unit after a fall. As a result, TV CHOSUN's "Gourmet Heo Yeong's Table" (which Heo Yeong had hosted for about seven years) has paused, promising a season 2 in the future. Moreover, with Heo Yeong currently 79 years old, many people are concerned about his health and are wishing him a speedy recovery.
After news emerged that Heo Yeong is recovering his health, reactions such as "It's really a relief that his health is improving," "Get well soon," and "Wishing you a speedy recovery" have been shared.
Heo Yeong is a cartoonist who created many popular works such as "Bridal Mask," "Mr. Son," "Fly, Superboard," "Tazza," and "Gourmet." On Sept. 23, the final installment of the "Tazza" film series based on his work, Tazza: The Song of Belzebub (directed by Choi Guk-hee), is scheduled to open.
