Ye Esther said her depression improved 10 years after she first confessed it.
On the 26th, a video titled 'Ye Esther, who underwent electroconvulsive therapy for chronic depression, why did she suddenly improve?' (first release, Jang Young-ran faints) was posted on the YouTube channel A-Class Jang Young-ran.
That day Jang Young-ran, Kim Sae-ron and Park Seul-gi mentioned allegations related to Ye Esther and held a "truth or lie" segment.
Ye Esther has confessed to having depression on broadcasts. In particular, she appeared on "Battle of Fates" and said she "draws a date to die every day," conveying an extreme state of depression that caused concern.
Jang Young-ran cautiously asked, "There is suspicion that people in the marketing department are using this a little for promotion in relation to depression."
Ye Esther said, "Absolutely not. Especially my marketing team called it a 'company bomb' when I opened about my depression. We sell things that are good for health."
She continued, "My depression started in earnest when I was 30. I was not a doctor, but I took a wide variety of medications. Even after taking them for nearly 10 years, parts remained unresolved."
Referring to her appearance on "Battle of Fates," she explained, "A person with depression feels like this will never end. I pick a day when I might be able to sort myself out someday, and I set a finite goal to live until then."
She added, "So in my case I set the date as Nov. 18 last year, but surprisingly when November came I had improved. In October last year I changed medications and when my husband came down, for the first time I didn't have bad thoughts."
Ye Esther joked, "During menopause the husband I used to find so unbearable came and ate with me, and that helped."
