Actor Hyunbin reveals a competitive streak rarely seen in his first variety show appearance in 23 years since his debut.
On the 25th broadcast of SBS 'Whenever Possible,' a preview featuring Hyunbin and Woo Do Hwan, who will appear as guests next week, was released at the end of the episode.
Hyunbin appears with Woo Do Hwan as a "틈 friend" and took on various missions with Yu Jae-seok and Yoo Yeon-seok. In particular, unlike the calm image he usually shows in works or talk variety shows, he drew attention by becoming completely absorbed in the competition once the games started.
In the preview, Hyunbin bowed his head and concentrated fully during a mission that required carefully handling small parts. Woo Do Hwan, who watched beside him, also looked at Hyunbin's fingertips with a tense expression.
While doing so, when the production staff urged Hyunbin to shout "challenge," the mood suddenly changed. Hyunbin, who had been concentrating, eventually exploded emotionally, shouting "I hate challenges so much!" and provoked laughter.
Yu Jae-seok also noted Hyunbin's previously unseen demeanor, saying "Hyunbin's hands are sweating," pointing out his nervousness. In the following game, Hyunbin immersed himself in the competition, moving his body widely, and the preview even showed the caption "the most thrilling one-on-one victory," heightening curiosity about the outcome.
Above all, this appearance draws attention because it is Hyunbin's first full-fledged variety show challenge since his debut. Although he has previously revealed talk and everyday life on shows such as You Quiz on the Block and Omniscient Interfering View, this is his first appearance on a variety show where he performs games and missions.
Even from the preview, a more human side distinct from his usual sober image emerged, raising anticipation for the main broadcast. The natural chemistry with Woo Do Hwan is also expected to be a viewing highlight.
Meanwhile, Hyunbin and Woo Do Hwan are set to appear in the Disney+ "Made In Korea season 2" release. The SBS "Whenever Possible," featuring the two, will air on Sept. 1 at 9 p.m.
