Singer and musical actor Jeong Taek-woon successfully concluded the premiere run of the musical Yumi's Cells.
Jeong Taek-woon completed the final performance of the musical Yumi's Cells at Seoul Arts Center CJ Towol Theater on the 23rd, successfully concluding an about three-month odyssey. Playing the fresh character "109 cell," who does not appear in the original webtoon, Jeong Taek-woon filled the stage from the first performance in June through the final show with solid vocal skills and delicate acting.
In the play, the 109 cell appears shrouded in mystery and forms organic relationships with other cells, becoming a key three-dimensional character who helps solve Yumi's problems. Jeong Taek-woon convincingly portrayed the character's mystery and transformation, successfully landing a new character not present in the original work on stage.
In particular, Jeong Taek-woon smoothly moved between dialogue and song, freely modulating the emotional highs and lows. While maximizing immersion in the numbers with explosive vocal power, he also captivated the audience by freely controlling the play's temperature, delivering laughs with a cheeky charm in the lively chemistry with the cells.
After the final performance, Jeong Taek-woon expressed deep gratitude, saying, "I was so honored to participate in the musical Yumi's Cells, and I was happy to be able to create a great premiere with wonderful actors and staff."
He added a heartfelt remark, saying, "While doing this work, I also once again felt that 'I am the main character of my life.' I sincerely thank you for loving the musical Yumi's Cells, and I will return with a new look."
Previously, Jeong Taek-woon solidified his weighty position as a musical actor by appearing in large-scale musicals and original premieres such as Mata Hari, The Count of Monte Cristo, Elisabeth, Frankenstein, and Memphis, and he proved his presence in this work as well.
