Singer HANRORO shared thoughts on the group Cortis quoting lyrics from a new song.
Lyrics from "Money Money Money (MONEYMONEYMONEY)," a track on the expanded edition of Cortis's second mini album "GREENGREEN_playextended," released on the 24th, became an issue.
The song's lyrics include, "I'll be Pororo, someone who makes money while having fun / Add a 0 to the 0 in my bankbook, just like HANRORO / They said we'd get dumber, and everyone slurps spit." While it borrowed HANRORO's hit "0+0" as wordplay and wove it into the lyrics, once the track dropped the public was split between calling it mockery and saying it was just rhyming, sparking a back-and-forth.
In response, member Gunho wrote a post titled "Shout out to HANRORO sunbaenim" on the fan community platform the same day, saying, "Maybe it's because I recently started reading books as a hobby, but I feel more immersed these days than when I first listened to sunbaenim's songs. The lyrics read like a poem, so as a listener I can relate by comparing the lyrics to my own experiences, and that's why I like sunbaenim's music."
He added, "Thank you for always writing so many beautiful lyrics. I gave sunbaenim a shoutout in this song, and I'm posting this because I personally wanted to pay respect once more. I hope this reaches sunbaenim."
HANRORO also shared thoughts. On the fan community platform, HANRORO said, "In fact, I've seen the members enjoy listening to and singing along to '0+0.' Thank you so much," and added, "I've taken a deep interest as a fan from when Cortis first came out to now, and I'm often impressed by the members' creativity and stage command. Many times it's been a great inspiration for me as well."
HANRORO dismissed the lyrics controversy, continuing, "What could be more meaningful than people who make music communicating through music and filling each other's hearts! So I'm taking the mention in this new song in a positive way."
In particular, HANRORO said, "I'm leaving this slightly timid long message here in the hope that fans who have watched every step of how '0+0' was made won't be deeply upset by this any longer. I'm always grateful and I love you."
