The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), hereinafter "Bucope," is coloring the entire city of Busan with a variety of performances and programs.
Bucope, which opened on the 21st, has been receiving enthusiastic responses from audiences with a variety of performances, starting with the opening show, including "Jeon Yuseong-less Jeon Yuseong show," "Galgari Gag Concert: return of the legend," and "B-grade hearing." In particular, the festival's representative program, "Comedy Street," is filling the Gu-nam-ro area of Haeundae with laughter, and with "Comedy open concert" performances taking place across Busan, the festival atmosphere is expected to be further heightened.
First, "Comedy Street" runs on Gu-nam-ro in Haeundae through the 26th. Domestic and international artists present performances spanning genres such as juggling, circus, magic and music, capturing the attention of not only tourists visiting Busan but also citizens who gathered to enjoy the street performances.
From international teams such as two-person juggling La Sambusa, solo juggler Kai Kuutamo, and Hoop Boom Boom, which presents a delightful performance using hula hoops, to domestic teams such as magician Kim Min-hyeong's "Bakso magic show," Ham Seoyul's circus drama "the happening show," the gag magic show "Magicjo" by Jo Yunho·Kim Young-jo·Hong Hwon, Lee Seok-won's circus paper art "231 show," and Park Hwi-soon's trot comedy show "Park Hwisun show," distinctive stages heated up Gu-nam-ro.
Meeting the audience with the trot comedy show "Park Hwisun show," Park Hwi-soon said, "My stage is an exciting trot performance that communicates with the audience. Since it is a show that combines laughter and trot, I hope Busan citizens and tourists will enjoy it easily with the sea as a backdrop."
On the 26th, the country's top fire show "Fire Album" and "the tin man," who usually stands still like a statue but transforms into a tin man the moment he gives his body to the music, will visit Gu-nam-ro.
Especially on that day, a first stage has been prepared for prospective comedians produced in connection with Dongseo University. Since 2024, Bucope has collaborated with Dongseo University to open a "comedy acting" major course, and BICF's Jo Yunho has participated as part of the teaching staff to provide education covering theory and practice.
Students who completed the course will take the "Comedy Street" stage on the 26th to demonstrate the comedy acting skills they honed over a semester in front of real audiences. Interest is focused on what the budding comedians who have grown with Bucope will do on their first stage.
The heat of laughter continues throughout Busan. Bucope will hold "Comedy open concerts" starting at Bukhang cruise terminal on the 25th, at Yulari square on the 27th, and at Dadaepo beach square on the 28th, meeting citizens and tourists.
At the Bukhang cruise terminal, the "Bakso magic show," which combines magic and comedy, and NewJeans-nim (Yun Seong-ho), who is loved for an original performance that fuses EDM with Buddhist philosophy, will take the stage. As the performances are aimed at cruise passengers, they are expected to offer a unique pleasure to tourists visiting Busan.
At Yulari square, audiences will meet the gag magic show "Magicjo," the gagman twins Lee Sang-ho·Lee Sang-min's "trot twins," "the tin man," and "Fire Album," among others. At Dadaepo beach square, "Crayon-yong," which combines magic and drawing, will take the stage and present an exuberant performance.
Through open concerts continuing at various representative attractions in Busan, it is expected that citizens and tourists alike will be able to enjoy comedy close to their daily lives.
Meanwhile, entering its second week, Bucope continues a variety of performances including "Comedy Street," "Comedy open concert," "Kkont assembl@Bucope," "Seoul Comedy All-Stars," "Mandam assembl@Bucope," "Ongals," and "Japan Nonverbal Live G Team." Bucope, which runs through the 30th, will close the curtain on its 14th festival with the closing show "I am a dog singer."
