Actor Ha-young's great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions controversy had not yet died down when the filming schedule for her next project, The Trauma Code: Heroes on call season 2, was released. With The Long Shot Trial also not having decided on Ha-young's departure, attention is focused on what decision The Trauma Code: Heroes on call will make.
Ha-young, who said on a variety show that she came from a fourth-generation medical family and was then swept up in controversy when her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions were confirmed. The agency initially said "groundless," but amid ongoing exhuma it reversed its position, saying "We have confirmed that there is an actual record showing that great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho's name appears on the 1916 list of council members of the Daijeong Chinmokhoe."
Ha-young bowed her head and said in a handwritten apology, "Through the process of personally looking into related materials because of this incident, I came to learn of my great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions. I reflect on having lightly mentioned my family history without properly knowing the painful period of Korea's history under Japanese colonial rule."
Despite the controversy over her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions, Ha-young is reported to be continuing filming for The Long Shot Trial. During filming she shed tears and could not compose herself, causing filming to be halted, and afterward she took about a week off to rest thanks to the production team's consideration.
Meanwhile, the filming schedule for Ha-young's next project, The Trauma Code: Heroes on call 2, was released. Original creator Lee Nak-jun said on KBS2's Malja Show aired on the 24th, "pre-production work for season 2 is finished and we are looking for filming locations," adding, "(This year) I think filming will probably start in October."
Because original creator Lee Nak-jun announced the filming schedule, attention is also focused on Ha-young's appearance in The Trauma Code: Heroes on call. Ha-young, who was embroiled in the controversy over her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions, has not withdrawn from the SBS new drama The Long Shot Trial, which is currently filming. According to the industry, filming is more than 90% complete, and filming will wrap up at the end of this month. SBS said, "We are aware of the matter concerning the cast member and are closely monitoring developments. If there are any outcomes to report later, we will inform you," expressing a cautious stance.
In particular, as the issue of Ha-young's great-grandfather continued, SBS said, "We are taking the recent matter concerning the cast member very seriously. We are in careful, multifaceted discussions together with the production company and related parties," and added, "We will provide guidance through official channels as soon as decisions are made."
Director Lee Do-yoon, who directs The Trauma Code: Heroes on call, showed public support by liking Ha-young's apology and expressing support, but because the matter was controversial he faced a backlash.
With Ha-young's great-grandfather pro-Japanese actions controversy still unresolved, neither her next project nor the one after that has decided on her departure. Netflix told OSEN, "The production of a sequel to The Trauma Code: Heroes on call is still under discussion, so we cannot confirm a filming start date or casting."
