Actor Jang Seo-hee spoke about the revenge drama that shook off 10 years of obscurity.
On the 25th broadcast of KBS1's 'Together with the well-known guest' segment, KBS2 daily drama A Trap Called Desire lead actors Jang Seo-hee, Yoon Hae-young and Yoo Tae-woong appeared.
Nicknamed the queen of revenge dramas and returning in A Trap Called Desire, Jang Seo-hee cheerfully opened the KBS1 morning program by performing a Wife's Temptation skit with announcer Park Cheol-gyu and comedian Jung Tae-ho.
Jang Seo-hee said that the title "queen of revenge dramas" was initially a burden. She said, It first gave me a revenge image when I did Mermaid Girl, and at that time I was younger than I am now, so while I was very grateful I also felt I should do other kinds of acting. After that, with Wife's Temptation it happened again, so I accepted it as fate.
She added, These days I have decided to be remembered as a legend in a specific field, to leave my mark, so I can act more comfortably. My time as an unknown was long, so I did all kinds of roles. Rather than wanting to play a particular role, I am grateful that I found what the public likes and what I can do well.
Jang Seo-hee said, This time it is not revenge and I am the villain. Actress Jeon Hye-won takes revenge on me. I play Joo Mi-ran, who causes an incident and, as the title suggests, unfolds A Trap Called Desire, the trap of Joo Mi-ran. She makes those around her unhappy because of her own desires. Later she will be punished, and I have become the perpetrator instead of the victim I always played. You may see me differently.
In particular, Jang Seo-hee drew attention by revealing that as a child she once co-hosted a program at KBS with the late Lee Sang-yong. Jang Seo-hee said, Because of my connection to that program I started as a child actor.
Meanwhile, according to viewership research company Nielsen Korea, KBS2 daily drama A Trap Called Desire (written by Goo Ji-won, directed by Lee Dae-kyung and Jung Kwang-soo) that aired on the 24th recorded a nationwide rating of 7.9%.
