Actor Lee Hyun-wook transforms into King Munmu, and Jang Hyuk transforms into Yeon Gaesomun. The first stills of the lead actors of "Munmu" have been released, raising expectations.
On the 25th, the stills released by KBS2's new historical epic "Munmu" (written by Kim Ri-heon and Hong Jin-yi, directed by Kim Young-jo and Goh Seung-joon, produced by KeyEast and Monster Union) featured Lee Hyun-wook, Jang Hyuk, Kim Kangwoo and Park Sung-woong, four figures who will shake history.
Lee Hyun-wook, who plays Kim Beom-min, who bears the weight of the throne, captured attention with a face full of agony, while Jang Hyuk intensified the drama's tension by portraying Yeon Gaesomun, the powerful and charismatic dictator of Goguryeo.
Kim Kangwoo transforms into Kim Chun-chu, Emperor Muyeol of the unified Silla and the father of Kim Beom-min, showing a gentle charisma. Park Sung-woong transforms into the famed general Kim Yu-sin, "Silla itself," conveying deep resonance with vigor and courage.
The production team said, "Please pay attention to how the choices and changes of each character navigating turbulent times, and the story of unification that unfolds within them, will move viewers."
"Munmu" is a large-scale historical drama that KBS is presenting about three years after "Goryeo–Khitan War," and it deals with the desperate and lonely grand narrative of leaders who risk everything for a single victory amid 600 years of continuous warfare and upheaval within the Three Kingdoms. Director Kim Young-jo, known for his directing on "Jang Young-sil," "Jingbirok," and "Geunchogo," joins forces with writers Kim Ri-heon and Hong Jin-yi, who have solid writing skills.
