Former professional basketball player Woo Ji-won's (53) daughter Woo Seo-yoon (22) was crowned Jin (眞) at the 70th Miss Korea pageant.
At the finals hosted by GLOBAL E&B on the afternoon of the 22nd at the Coex Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Woo Seo-yoon, who held the Seon (善) title for Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon, won Jin.
Woo Seo-yoon said she had not prepared a speech because she did not expect it at all. She added, "My peers worked so hard. With painstaking effort, stitch by stitch, we were able to complete a wonderful stage. To my family and friends, I'm so grateful for always cheering me on and supporting me."
Woo Seo-yoon is the eldest daughter of Woo Ji-won. She is majoring in fine art at Tufts University in the United States. She appeared on an entertainment program in the past and became known to the public.
Woo Ji-won was famous as a "handsome man" when he played basketball. In professional basketball, he appeared in 573 games over 13 seasons, averaging 12.8 points and 2.51 rebounds per game.
This year's Seon went to Oh Su-min (25; Jeolla-Gwangju-Jeju Seon; School of International Liberal Studies, Waseda University), and Mi (美) went to Lee Min-sol (21; Busan-Ulsan; Department of Economics, Underwood International College, Yonsei University).
In the special awards category, Ye (藝) went to Noh Hyang (20; Seoul-Gyeonggi-Incheon Jin; Department of Korean Traditional Music, Seoul National University), and Jae (才) went to Lee So-min (27; Seoul-Gyeonggi-Incheon Mi; Department of Piano, Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in Germany).
