Singer and actor Kim Dong Wan expressed his thoughts on the controversy surrounding YouTuber Park Wi.
Kim Dong Wan wrote on his social media on the 22nd, "At some point YouTube stopped scraping broadcasts and broadcasts started scraping YouTube to make programs. I watched Wiracle for a long time. Watching his positive actions, there were times he cheered me on."
Kim Dong Wan continued, "This is his first time with a disability. From the perspective of a person with a disability, he would have had to consider everything. And the remarks that came from that place offered something for those who do not yet have disabilities to think about at least once," he said.
Kim Dong Wan added, "I do not know all the ins and outs of this matter. I just think the time it takes for an ordinary person to become news has become too short."
He wrote, "What made him suffer such humiliation.. what made him appear in the news," drawing attention.
This was his reaction to the controversy surrounding Park Wi that occurred earlier that day. Park Wi uploaded a video titled "the reason for releasing CCTV footage" to his YouTube channel on the 21st. The video showed Park Wi suffering an accident as he fell when his wheelchair caught on the foot of a social service worker who was on a ramp while getting off a KTX.
After Park Wi released the CCTV, criticism that he had been "reckless" arose and it became a controversy, and eventually Park Wi apologized directly, saying, "I thought only negatively about the mistake that occurred in the process of better helping me. My way of conveying it was clumsy and my thinking was short-sighted."
