Comedian Heo Kyunghwan tells his protégé Kwak Beom "take it easy," revealing both tension and restraint.
Today (22nd) at 6:30 p.m., the MBC variety show Hangout With Yoo (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Lee Joo-won, Kim Ki-ho, An Ji-seon, Bang Seong-su, Park Eun-jin / writer No Min-seon) airs the "Hangout With Yoo diary" episode, showing Yu Jae-seok, Haha, Heo Kyunghwan, Joo Woo-jae and Kwak Beom of the Hangout With Yoo village youth association spending a day together so that the village stalwart Kim Kwang-kyu will not be lonely.
That day Kim Kwang-kyu teases Heo Kyunghwan, saying "Beom is so good," injecting a subtle tension into the teacher-student relationship between Heo Kyunghwan and Kwak Beom. In response, Kwak Beom politely bows to Heo Kyunghwan and cheekily replies "I learned everything," and Heo Kyunghwan, checking his protégé, says "take it easy," drawing laughter.
Later Kwak Beom praises his teacher, saying "When I became a comedian, senior Heo Kyunghwan was already walking on clouds. Whatever he did made people laugh," lavishing endless praise. An excited Heo Kyunghwan summons his prime, saying "At my slightest gesture the audience used to stir."
But Heo Kyunghwan's comeback gag fails, and Yu Jae-seok teases the struggling Heo Kyunghwan in front of his protégé, saying "Kyunghwan doesn't do well whenever Beom appears." Heo Kyunghwan seizes another chance to attempt a second gag, leaving viewers wondering whether he can save his dignity as a teacher in front of Kwak Beom.
Earlier Kwak Beom said he nurtured his dream by attending a comedy academy during his unknown days, and it drew attention when it was revealed that his comedy teacher at the time was Heo Kyunghwan. There was a 240,000 won comedy academy then, and the instructor was Heo Kyunghwan. Kwak Beom also revealed, "It was when senior Heo Kyunghwan was at the height of his fame with the catchphrase "jaijaija siksaek-a" and I wrote skits to show and took classes, and I attended the academy for about six months."
