Singer Gree expressed distress over the fact that everyone around him, from his father the broadcaster Kim Gu Ra to Hong Jin Kyung and Rhymer, had divorced.
On the 21st a video titled "Everyone, I'm getting married now" was posted on the YouTube channel Kim Gree.
In the video, Gree played a prospective groom about to marry in a mock scenario and went to look at new homes. After touring the newlywed homes and eating, Nam Chang Hee said, "Marriage is about having a good person — that's the one thing you look for."
Gree said, "You really only say the answers that all wives want to hear." In response, Nam Chang Hee said, "I'm done. I abandoned the husbands. Now I will stand with the wives."
Gree said, "I don't know, I'll abandon them too. My agency CEO, who I am close to, also went through pain once, Jin Kyung nuna also went through pain, and my father, who is my blood relative, also went through pain and got back up, and there are so many people who have suffered. Why does only my circle hurt?"
Nam Chang Hee said, "It's not only your circle. These days one in three couples goes through that kind of pain," to which Gree replied, "All three of those three couples have already gone through it," prompting laughter.
Nam Chang Hee advised, "Don't look at that kind of pain; aren't there at least two households that live happily? Then you should look at those."
Gree's father, Kim Gu Ra, married in 1997 and had a son, Gree, but divorced in 2015. It was reported that before the divorce his wife suffered economic hardship due to about 1.7 billion won in debt. Later, in 2020 Kim Gu Ra remarried a woman 12 years his junior and drew attention when he welcomed a late-born daughter.
Also, Hong Jin Kyung announced her divorce in August last year after 22 years of marriage to a businessman five years her senior. After the divorce, her remarks that she has maintained an amicable relationship with her ex-husband also became a topic of conversation.
Rhymer married interpreter Ahn Hyun Mo, who is six years his junior, in 2017. The two appeared together on couple variety shows such as SBS's "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny" and shared their daily lives. But after six years of marriage, in November 2023 the two announced their divorce.
