Seungri, formerly of the group Big Bang, was spotted in Vietnam.
On the 21st, Vietnamese new media outlet Schannel released a video on its official social media showing Seungri visiting an event hall in Hanoi.
In the released footage, Seungri was seen moving toward the venue under the guidance of a bodyguard holding an umbrella in rainy weather. He was wearing a neat beige suit, and appeared heavier than during his past activities in the entertainment industry.
According to the outlet, Seungri visited the Ho Guom Opera House, a landmark in Hanoi, Vietnam, on the 20th and attended the opening event of "AY-VY Hanoi" that day. However, Seungri's name was not included on the official guest list.
Some have speculated that Seungri may have attended after receiving a separate private invitation, but the specific manner of his attendance was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, Seungri debuted as a member of Big Bang in 2006 and continued group and solo activities. However, after being named a key figure in the 2018 "Burning Sun" scandal, he announced his departure from the group and his retirement from the entertainment industry.
Afterward, Seungri was sentenced to one year and six months in prison on charges including arranging prostitution for investors, violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, embezzlement in the course of duty, and overseas gambling involving around 2 billion won, and was released in February 2023. Since his release, Seungri has had no domestic entertainment activities. However, reports of sightings of him abroad have continued.
Separately from Seungri, Big Bang is busy this year marking their 20th anniversary. In addition to a 20th anniversary media exhibition, a 20th anniversary drone show was held on the 19th. Furthermore, from the 21st through the 23rd they open their world tour at the main stadium of Goyang Sports Complex.
Starting with the Goyang performance, Big Bang will embark on a large-scale world tour with a total of 33 shows across 19 cities worldwide, including North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.
