MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'A Bona fide Killer' continued its streak as the No. 1 Friday-Saturday drama, recording 9.8% in the Seoul metropolitan area and 9.7% nationwide.
The 7th episode of MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'A Bona fide Killer' (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hun), which aired on the 21st, depicted Yoo Bo-na (Kong Hyojin) and Kwon Tae-seong's (Jung Jun-won) first meeting and the hidden story surrounding Kingfisher's hiatus.
That broadcast recorded 9.8% in households in the Seoul metropolitan area and 9.7% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea, maintaining its No. 1 spot among Friday-Saturday dramas. In particular, the scene in which Yoo Bo-na, who went to a mountain lodge, lay on the sofa doing nothing and spent time shot up to a peak rating of 12.2%. The 20-54 rating also recorded 3.7%, ranking first among all programs aired that day and proving its strong popularity.
That day Kwon Tae-seong headed to the square to report on a pickpocket on the day of the World Cup eight years earlier. He relentlessly chased the pickpocket, even preparing a fake wallet to lure him, and eventually collapsed bleeding on the emergency stairs.
At the same time, Yoo Bo-na, who had gone to a client meeting dressed as a red devil, one-shot-one-killed a drunk driver who fled the scene and headed for the emergency stairs, where she found Kwon Tae-seong. Yoo Bo-na reported to the paramedics, left the words "Try to live if you can" and left, leaving a strong impression.
Four months later, Kwon Tae-seong, who regained consciousness, found Yoo Bo-na standing precariously on the hospital roof railing. He expressed sincerity, saying, "Life is precious. I hope you live and do not die," and tried to save her.
Later, Yoo Bo-na learned through articles and blogs that Kwon Tae-seong was a reporter who covered Kingfisher full time. It was the moment their special connection surrounding Kingfisher officially began.
Meanwhile, public opinion flared over Kingfisher's "one-shot two-kill" sniping. Controversy erupted over claims that Kingfisher had wrongly shot an innocent person after the crimes of the sniping target, Chairman Cheon Seong-gil (played by Kim Jong-gu), were not revealed.
But Kwon Tae-seong confirmed through a tipster, together with Goo Hae-na (Han Chae-rin), evidence that Cheon Seong-gil had repeatedly committed crimes against housekeepers and even ordered contract killings. After these facts came to light, public opinion toward Kingfisher was quickly overturned.
Oh Hyun-nam (Ha Yul-ri) and Bong Tae-min (Kim Nam-hee) took on a new client request and launched an operation. The target was a criminal who committed arson murder to get his parents' inheritance.
Bong Tae-min used an advanced giant fly drone to drop poison into the criminal's drink, and an elated Oh Hyun-nam grabbed Bong Tae-min's hand, leaving him flustered. The bickering yet strangely atmospheric chemistry between the two added cheerfulness to the episode.
Meanwhile, Kwon Se-a (Lee Eunsaem), who fell in love at first sight with Ki Young-do (Moo Jin-seong), launched a housewarming operation for sales team 3. The sales team 3 members even held an emergency measures meeting to find Yoo Bo-na's house, and Yoo Bo-na served food herself and created a warm atmosphere.
But the mood changed when Lee Dong-jin (played by Lee Sang Yi) appeared in front of sales team 3, who had come outside the house. In particular, a hair-trigger situation continued as Lee Dong-jin picked up and handed Oh Hyun-nam's Mist S (poison), raising the tension.
Lee Dong-jin joked about the side dishes Yoo Bo-na had prepared, saying, "I will definitely repay the favor." He especially urged Kwon Tae-seong to take good care of Yoo Bo-na, saying, "Not having a family is really lonely and painful."
The ironic situation was created by Lee Dong-jin showing special feelings toward Yoo Bo-na, unaware that the Kingfisher he was chasing was actually Yoo Bo-na.
At the end of the broadcast, the conflicting inner feelings of Kwon Tae-seong and Yoo Bo-na surrounding Kingfisher were revealed. Kwon Tae-seong, thinking of Kingfisher, said, "You shouldn't have come back. You shouldn't have come this time," and over that, Yoo Bo-na's voice crossed, saying, "The one who made him return as Kingfisher was that person, Kwon Tae-seong."
Then a scene was revealed showing Yoo Bo-na and Kwon Tae-seong unexpectedly reuniting at the mountain lodge during Kingfisher's first hiatus in the past. Their tender eye contact as they looked at each other decorated the ending and greatly heightened curiosity about their hidden connection that dates back eight years.
