Crossover group Forestella's Jo Min-kyu returns with his second EP after about 4 years and 9 months.
Jo Min-kyu announced on his official social media on the 20th that he will release his second EP Sweet Escape on Sept. 10, along with the phrase My Sweet Escape.
The released cover image depicts Jo Min-kyu seated among giant teapots, cupcakes and pies against a pastel blue-toned space background. The surreal atmosphere, as if crossing the boundary between reality and fantasy, combined with fresh colors and fairy-tale imagination, piques curiosity about the music and stories to be presented through the new album.
Sweet Escape is Jo Min-kyu's second EP, released about 4 years and 9 months after his first EP Shinsegae : PARANA, which was released in Dec. 2021. Jo Min-kyu, who has steadily built his musical capabilities as a solo artist by releasing various digital singles in the meantime, is expected to show a more expanded musical world through this album.
This new record is a pop album that encompasses various jazz-pop styles based on bossa nova, featuring a total of seven tracks centered on new songs. In particular, Jo Min-kyu participated in co-producing with the producing team ButterFly (Hwang Sung-je, Seo Mi-rae, Jung Dong-yoon), led by hit composer Hwang Sung-je, embedding his musical tastes and colors more deeply.
Jo Min-kyu, Forestella's leader and a vocalist known for his distinctive tone and solid vocal power, has steadily built his own musical colors by taking part in writing and composing his solo songs. On this album, he is expected to present another charm based on deeper sensitivity and a widened musical spectrum.
A solo concert of the same name as the album, MONO DRAMA 2026 : Sweet Escape, will also be held over two days on Sept. 19 and 20. With the new record release followed by a concert of the same name, anticipation is building for the story of Sweet Escape to be completed through the songs and performances.
Alongside this, Jo Min-kyu will release last year's concert videos on his official YouTube channel every Monday at 8 p.m. for three weeks from Aug. 24 to Sept. 7. Previously, Jo Min-kyu released concert footage through an online screening called MONO DRAMA : replay last year and communicated with fans in real time.
Meanwhile, Jo Min-kyu's second EP Sweet Escape will be released at 6 p.m. on Sept. 10 on various online music sites, and the physical album will be available at online and offline music retailers.
