(following interview 1) Actress Park So-dam conveyed an anecdote about Byun Yo-Han.
On the afternoon of the 20th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview was conducted with Park So-dam, the lead actor of The Journey to Gyeongju.
The Journey to Gyeongju, which is set to open on the 26th (screenplay/director Kim Mi-jo, presented by Lotte Entertainment, Michigan Venture Capital Co., Ltd., distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Studio Hi-FiVe, co-produced by Euphoria ENT), is a film about a family revenge drama of four mothers and daughters who, for the youngest daughter "Gyeong-ju," who did not return from a school trip, embark on a "deadly" trip after eight years of waiting.
In the film, Park So-dam plays the second sister "Young-ju," a strategist who meticulously plans to avenge her younger sister "Gyeong-ju." When asked about her impressions of meeting Byun Yo-Han, who is also an alumnus of Korea National University of Arts, she said, "Oppa was such a passionate actor even when he was in school. It was well known that he was so good at acting," recounting their long connection.
Byun Yo-Han transformed his image by taking on the role of the murderer Baek Sang-hyun in The Journey to Gyeongju. Park So-dam said, "I think he was the last to join. I was so excited thinking, 'Oppa in this role?' I was looking forward to seeing a side of Byun Yo-Han we hadn't seen before. Actually, although we attended school together, we never directly made eye contact and acted together. But I thought it would be fun to act with him."
She continued, "At first we talked about makeup and Hyo-jin unni discouraged it. She joked, 'Don't rely on makeup, go with acting,' because she is such a great actor, so I was very curious how oppa would portray this role. Watching the final scene in the theater made me chuckle. I thought, 'In that situation he asks to be saved with that expression?' Byun Yo-Han did really well. At the end his eyes were clear and it made me angry. He was superb," she praised.
In particular, Byun Yo-Han joined The Journey to Gyeongju without a fee. When asked about this, Park So-dam candidly admitted, "I didn't know." She said, "Oppa didn't show it at all. I learned from an article. It's a good anecdote," and added with a laugh, "I didn't ask about the no-fee. I just thought to myself, 'Oppa is cool.'"
