Actor Kim Jeong-hwa revealed that she once considered divorcing CCM singer and evangelist Yoo Eun-seong, who is battling brain cancer, and the couple's recent condition was made public.
On the 21st, Kim Jeong-hwa posted a video on her social media with the caption "let's look at the sleeping kid again." In the released video, Kim Jeong-hwa handed Yoo Eun-seong a chocolate bar and said, "The kids have eaten too many sweet things." The two were putting the chocolate bar in their mouths when a voice saying "Mom, dad, what are you doing?" was heard, startling them. They then pretended not to be eating anything while even putting the chocolate wrapper in their mouths, which drew laughs.
Through such playful skits, Kim Jeong-hwa and Yoo Eun-seong share the sweet, everyday moments of their married life and communicate with fans.
Earlier, on the 17th, the two sparked attention by discussing divorce on their YouTube channel. At the time, the producers said, "In the previous content, we went to Pocheon and there were a lot of articles. It came out that 'she even thought about divorce,' but haven't we only heard one side?" and asked Yoo Eun-seong to speak.
In response, Yoo Eun-seong said he had also considered divorce. He said, "I watched the video. When I heard that she had once thought about divorce, (Kim Jeong-hwa) was surprised. She was curious," and added, "I feel honored that this person lives with me, and I wondered whether it's acceptable for this person to have such thoughts."
He continued, "I saw that expression as 'Why, the evangelist?'" and said, "It's an emotional wound. It's like 'Why you? Why are you?' Isn't that it? Why would that be?" showing his hurt feelings.
When Kim Jeong-hwa said, "Some subscribers might have been thinking 'why?'" Yoo Eun-seong retorted, "Why? Am I not allowed to think (about divorce)?"
The producers also explained why they were surprised at the time, saying, "When we asked if they had ever thought about divorce, we expected the answer to be 'not to that extent,' but both said they had, so it was 'both of you?'."
Kim Jeong-hwa said, "Viewers have seen our health issues and our very lovely appearance on 'Same bed, different dreams,' so some people might be surprised that such a couple even thought about divorce," and added, "In my case, since I mentioned it, I wanted to hear (Yoo Eun-seong's) side once."
Yoo Eun-seong revealed his cautious feelings, saying, "I was afraid I would be a burden. I was afraid it would harm Jeong-hwa. I shouldn't become a burden to Jeong-hwa, right?" Earlier, Kim Jeong-hwa had answered that the moment she considered divorce was "when communication broke down."
Yoo Eun-seong cited a similar reason. He frankly said, "It's when I felt, 'They don't recognize this. I talked about this so much, but they won't accept it.' I tried to appeal and asked them to understand, but if they don't, I think, 'I'm not an important person to this person.' At times like that, I thought I might get a divorce."
Meanwhile, Kim Jeong-hwa and Yoo Eun-seong married in 2013 and have two sons. Last year, it was revealed that Yoo Eun-seong had been diagnosed with brain cancer, which drew sympathy. Since then, the couple has shared updates on his treatment through YouTube and other channels.
Recently, Yoo Eun-seong said on YouTube, "At the hospital they said the tumor is not moving and is doing well. It seems we're somewhat out of the anxious situation," and added, "I am grateful that many people prayed and cheered for us, and it seems good results came out," announcing that his condition has improved.
