On the 20th, the YouTube channel Study King Jin Genius Hong Jin Kyung uploaded a video titled "First reveal of the story in which Hong Jin Kyung didn't even know her daughter Rael Skitada almost died."
That day, Hong Jin Kyung and her daughter Rael held a book discussion with the book "Tools of Titans." While reading the section about the secrets of the most successful people in the world, Rael shared her own experience.
Rael said, "One of the commonalities of people who achieved great success is that they have compelling stories that captivate many people," and read a passage from the book, saying, "To have the mindset and environment to come up with good ideas, you must recall moments when you took risks and pushed through adventures."
Hong Jin Kyung asked if she had ever pushed through an adventure. Rael recalled, "Earlier this year I went to a ski camp in Japan. The Japanese kids provoked me when they learned I was a youth national team member."
She confessed, "I was on the ski cross national team, so I'm not good at aerial moves," and said, "Still, the kids wanted to see two tricks I could do, and not satisfied with that they wanted more. I said I could do it and tried, but I couldn't. The kids all laughed. It was the worst trauma of my life."
Angered, Rael practiced the trick as soon as the ski resort opened the next day. But she couldn't do it; when the time came the kids gathered again and provoked her, saying, "You can do it today, right?"
Rael said, "On the way to ski I took the wrong route. It was a place marked with signs saying only advanced skiers should go, but I went there. I jumped thinking, 'Even if I die I'll land a 360 and die,' and when I came to my senses I hadn't fallen," which elicited surprise.
She continued, "I don't even remember that moment. If something had gone slightly wrong there, my bones would have broken," and added, "Up until right before the jump my mindset was 'I'm going to die,' but after jumping I thought, 'I really died. I lived a short life without regrets.'"
