Actor Ha-young has continued to face controversy over her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions, and SBS again said it is taking the matter seriously.
On the 20th, the production team of SBS' The Long Shot Trial told OSEN, "We are taking the recent matter related to a cast member very seriously," and "We are currently discussing the issue carefully and from multiple angles with the production company and related parties," the statement said.
They added, "We will inform the public through official channels as soon as a decision is made."
Earlier, Ha-young, the female lead of The Long Shot Trial, became embroiled in controversy over her great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho's pro-Japanese actions. Initially Ha-young said the ancestral pro-Japanese actions were "groundless," but as the controversy grew she acknowledged the pro-Japanese actions and apologized as a descendant.
In particular, OSEN reported that during filming Ha-young cried and was unable to compose herself, causing filming to be halted, and that she later rested for about a week with the production team's consideration to regain her composure. Ha-young returned to the set today (the 20th) and resumed filming.
The fallout from Ha-young's ancestor's pro-Japanese controversy has affected The Long Shot Trial, but for now SBS plans to finish the scheduled filming and then continue discussions about the production.
Meanwhile, SBS' The Long Shot Trial is a cheerful comedic legal detective drama about a ragtag law office led by former lawyer and current office manager Kwon Baek (played by Lee Je-hoon), which makes unwinnable fights winnable in ways the world has never seen, and is scheduled to air next year.<
