Actor Ha-young, despite the issue of her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese controversy, was filming SBS's new drama The Long Shot Trial and, with the production team's consideration, was given a week to gather herself.
On the 20th, OSEN reported that Ha-young took a week off from filming the new SBS drama The Long Shot Trial starting last week to rest her body and mind. It was reported that recently Ha-young could not hold back overwhelming emotions and showed tears during filming, after which the production team judged that the lead's mind and body were unstable and allowed her to take a break. Reportedly, Ha-young rested at home to regain composure and returned to the set that day to continue the remaining filming.
Currently Ha-young has finished nearly 90% of the filming for The Long Shot Trial, and all filming is planned to be completed by September at the latest. Although the drama encountered a huge fallout when the "great-grandfather's pro-Japanese controversy" broke out midproduction, reports say Ha-young and all the staff are doing their best to complete the work.
The new SBS drama The Long Shot Trial, starring Lee Je-hoon and Ha-young, is a cheerful, comic legal detective story about a ragtag law office led by former lawyer-turned-office manager Kwon Baek that makes unwinnable fights winnable in ways the world has never seen. It is scheduled to air in the first half of 2027 and is based on a popular drama from Japan's TV Asahi. Attention is focused on whether the production can overcome the lead actor risk and meet viewers.
Earlier Ha-young bowed and apologized directly for her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions.
Ha-young posted a handwritten apology on her personal SNS, saying, "I bow my head and apologize for causing great disappointment and hurt because of matters related to my great-grandfather. Recently, upon learning of the past actions of my great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho, I have looked back on my family's history with a heavy heart. I only knew fragments of my great-grandfather's life from stories passed down through the family. Shamefully, in that ignorant state I brought up stories about my great-grandfather in many settings as if he were a family boast," and "Through this incident, in the process of directly looking up related materials I came to learn of my great-grandfather's pro-Japanese actions. I reflect on having casually mentioned family history without properly knowing the painful time of Japanese colonial rule in Korea," offering repeated apologies.
Separate from the family controversy surrounding Ha-young, her SNS followers have surged, and there is high interest as her starring works have succeeded at the box office.
Just a week ago her SNS passed 1 million followers, and within days another 200,000 were added to surpass 1.25 million. In addition, the Netflix series Our Sticky Love, in which she paired with Jung Haein, recorded 7.5 million views (based on the 10th–16th) and rose to No. 1 among global non-English shows.<
