KBS 1TV's new daily drama 'Mom has gone crazy' has revealed the casting lineup of actors who will lead it.
The new KBS 1TV daily drama 'Mom has gone crazy (working title)' (directed by Sungjunhae, written by Na Seung-hyun), set to premiere in September, depicts a turbulent family coming-of-age story in which a mother who spent her life for her family, a mother who spent her life only for herself, and the children of the two mothers, who are like enemies, become entangled.
'Mom has gone crazy' is a work that brings together director Sungjunhae, recognized for his delicate directing in "Iron Family" and "Eurachacha My Life," and writer Na Seung-hyun, who has shown solid writing in "A Bean in My Eye" and "Crazy Love."
Earlier, Jung Min-ah, Dong-ha, Kim Hee-jeong, and Kang Kyung-hun confirmed their appearances, and they are joined by Kim Young-ok, Yang Hee-kyung, Lee Han-wi, Nam Sung-jin, Jo Mi-ryeong, Kang Eun Tak, Kong Jeong-hwan, and Ahn Yeon-hong. Characters with different stories and desires become entangled, promising to complete a family drama that spans generations.
First, Kim Young-ok will play Hwang Geum-soon, the mother of Cha In-seong (played by Nam Sung-jin) and the maternal grandmother of Cha Seung-yun (played by Dong-ha). Hwang Geum-soon, founder of Hwanggeum Capital, is the figure who came to the capital with her two sons all alone and built the current Hwanggeum family.
After losing her eldest son and his wife in a traffic accident, she decides to become a fool to protect her grandson Cha Seung-yun. Kim Young-ok is expected to portray the complex aspects of Hwang Geum-soon, who moves between toughness and tenderness, with her characteristic deep acting.
Yang Hee-kyung plays Choi Soon-deok, the mother of Kang Hak-seong (played by Lee Han-wi) and the mother-in-law of Jo Mi-mi (played by Kim Hee-jeong). Choi Soon-deok, founder of Mimi's samgyetang, is the real power of the family who guards the kitchen regardless of arthritis and neuralgia.
She is decisive enough to expel her philandering only son Kang Hak-seong and even give the shop and the house to her daughter-in-law Jo Mi-mi, but an unexpected incident creates a rift in her relationship with Jo Mi-mi. Choi Soon-deok's complex emotions, who cares for her daughter-in-law more than anyone but ultimately cannot escape being a mother-in-law, are expected to add depth to the drama.
Lee Han-wi plays Kang Hak-seong, Jo Mi-mi's ex-husband and a taxi driver. Once a successful liquor executive at a major corporation, Kang Hak-seong had an affair with Park Ji-young (played by Jo Mi-ryeong) and left his family. Realizing the importance of his family belatedly, he struggles to make amends for his mistakes. Interest is focused on whether his clumsy but sincere return can win back his family's hearts.
Nam Sung-jin appears as Cha In-seong, Hwang Geum-soon's son and the husband of Jeon Jin-hee (played by Kang Kyung-hun). Cha In-seong, CEO of Hwanggeum Capital, is a romantic with composure and filial piety. But when he learns of his wife's hidden secret, a crack forms in his peaceful life. Cha In-seong's emotional changes surrounding the family he trusted are expected to be another viewing point of the drama.
Jo Mi-ryeong plays Park Ji-young, Kang Hak-seong's wife. She is a survival-oriented character who values her emotions and safety above all and harbors the desire to raise her daughter's status by marrying her into the Hwanggeum family. Park Ji-young's actions, who charges ahead for her goals without hesitation, stir curiosity about what variables she will create in family relationships.
Kang Eun Tak appears as Kang Kang-nam, Jo Mi-mi's eldest son. After business failure and divorce, he lives off his mother's house and challenges standing on his own for the first time. Expectations rise as Kang Kang-nam, who has relied on his family, grows as he takes direct responsibility for his life.
Kong Jeong-hwan adds another story to the drama as Joo Kyung-ho, Jo Mi-mi's romantic interest and Hwang Geum-soon's attending physician. Having lost his wife and young daughter in an accident, Joo Kyung-ho, who maintained a connection with Hwang Geum-soon, becomes a regular customer after Jo Mi-mi offers him samgyetang, and unexpectedly takes on the role of her lover. Attention is focused on which direction the relationship that began from an unforeseen trigger will take.
Ahn Yeon-hong appears as Jo Mi-mi's younger sister and a cook at Mimi's samgyetang. She is impulsive and gives everything freely to the man she loves, but she is the most reliable sister to her older sister. Ahn Yeon-hong is expected to bring bright and pleasant energy to the drama by embodying the clumsy yet lovable charm of the cook.
The production team said, "Actors with different personalities and stories, including Kim Young-ok and Yang Hee-kyung, are meeting in one work and vividly bringing their characters to life," adding, "The process in which people intertwined by the name of family sometimes clash and sometimes join hands and change their relationships will be a great pleasure of the work."
Meanwhile, 'Mom has gone crazy' is scheduled to premiere in September as the successor to 'Our Happy Days.'
