Actor Ham So-won recalled the difficult time after the car accident and said she recovered quickly thanks to her only daughter.
Ham So-won said on the 20th "#mother'sheart #grateful," recalling the moment of the car accident, "I had already lost consciousness in the car. Suddenly 'It hurts so much, I'm so cold,' whether from anesthesia or pain the sounds were very distant. Many people shouted from very far away. 'We need to transfuse quickly' It was so far from my ear that it didn't feel like my story. It was very urgent, I could tell, but the sound came from so far away."
She went on, "My consciousness wouldn't wake, and someone put their mouth to my ear and said, 'We need to transfuse quickly, or you'll die.' Only then did I understand. I need a transfusion or it's serious. 'I will take that transfusion,' and then I don't know how many days passed. I woke up in the intensive care unit (ICU)," she said, adding, "On the day I was moved to a general ward, I absolutely would not let Hye-jeong see her mother. I didn't want to show my mother lying in the hospital with a urine tube, a bowel movement tube and even a diaper. I got permission to take a call and video-called Hye-jeong very cheerfully. I was grateful to see our child beyond the phone."
Ham So-won asked her daughter Hye-jeong, "You like that the nagging mom isn't at home, right?" but Hye-jeong replied, "No, I don't. I don't like that I can't eat mom's spaghetti. I want to eat mom's spaghetti."
Ham So-won said, "It's nothing special, but my throat tightens. This is what quickly got me out of the hospital," adding, "I have to get up and go make food for Hye-jeong. I have to do what she wants to eat. Even if it's not tasty, she eats it as if it's the best thing in the world, and seeing her small mouth smacking as she enjoys it makes me so happy. I'm truly grateful for today. My prayer was answered in the hospital room. As soon as I was discharged, it's already the fourth time she's had spaghetti."
The released video shows daughter Hye-jeong enjoying the spaghetti her mother Ham So-won made. Ham So-won said, "Is the spaghetti that good? She eats it so well. You wanted mom's spaghetti, right?" beaming, and Hye-jeong said, "It's delicious," and put on a voracious eating show.
Earlier, Ham So-won was involved in an accident last month when her vehicle hit a utility pole while she was parking on a downhill slope during the process of applying the handbrake. She was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis and underwent surgery at a hospital in Seoul. She was hospitalized for as long as two months for treatment and was fortunately discharged in good health.
Meanwhile, Ham So-won married Jin Hua, a Chinese national 18 years her junior, in 2018 and gave birth to a daughter that year, but after ups and downs they divorced in 2022. Since then she has continued a relationship with her ex-husband, repeatedly living together and apart for the sake of raising daughter Hye-jeong, and has left open the possibility of reconciliation. However, opposition from both families has prevented reconciliation, and Ham So-won is raising her daughter alone as a single mother.
