Actor Hong Min-gi called the ex-girlfriend's allegation that he pressured her to have an abortion "groundless" and said, "We will proceed with the necessary civil and criminal legal procedures."
On the morning of the 20th, the actor's agency said, "A said in an additional post that she confirmed the pregnancy while dating the actor and said she underwent an abortion, and that she has medical records and ultrasound photos to support this," adding, "In fact, A on Aug. 19, 2026, at around 6 a.m. sent the actor an ultrasound photo along with the message, 'Shut up before this all blows up.' But A had never shown the actor such an ultrasound photo before. The ultrasound photo is also different from a typical image that shows pregnancy, so the agency requested verification from obstetrics and gynecology medical staff about the ultrasound photo A sent and will submit it as evidence," the agency said.
The agency added, "After confirming with the actor, A never showed the actor a pregnancy test, and contrary to A's claim, there is absolutely no fact that the actor made remarks encouraging A to have an abortion." It added, "Furthermore, on July 13, the day A claims she underwent the abortion, A suggested to the actor that they go ride bicycles together, and when the actor declined, A sent a video of herself riding a bicycle alone. The agency has secured and is keeping all those conversations and videos."
It also emphasized, "Pregnancy and abortion are very sensitive and serious matters. Nonetheless, A publicly posted on social media completely untrue claims such as that the actor pressured her to have an abortion after confirming the pregnancy, and as a result the actor has suffered serious reputational and image damage that will be difficult to recover from."
Hong Min-gi's side said it would begin legal action rather than rebut every false claim by A, saying, "Based on the materials secured so far, we will immediately proceed with the civil and criminal legal procedures necessary so that the facts related to this case can be clearly revealed," and added, "Finally, we politely ask that people refrain from indiscriminate speculation and amplification·reproduction of unverified claims, as that could cause additional harm not only to the actor but to all parties involved in the case."
Earlier, on the 19th, influencer A, who has about 20,000 followers, posted an exposé targeting Hong Min-gi on her social media and released a certified letter. The certified letter contained allegations that Hong Min-gi threw a dangerous object at A and committed assault and threats. She also alleged that he suspected her of cheating with another man, called dozens of times, made statements suggesting killing, struck her shoulder forcefully and shoved her while grabbing her neck, and invaded her privacy by secretly checking her cell phone and KakaoTalk messages.
She also posted additional allegations that he cursed at colleagues, staff and directors she worked with, made derogatory remarks about fans, and abused a pet dog, adding to the controversy.
The following is the agency's full official statement on Hong Min-gi
Hello. This is Fable Company.
We would like to state our position regarding the additional posts A published concerning our actor Hong Min-gi.
A said in an additional post that she confirmed the pregnancy while dating the actor and said she underwent an abortion, and that she has medical records and ultrasound photos to support this.
In fact, on Aug. 19, 2026, at around 6 a.m., A sent the actor an ultrasound photo along with the message, "Shut up before this all blows up." But A had never shown the actor such an ultrasound photo before. The ultrasound photo is also different from a typical image that shows pregnancy, so the agency requested verification from obstetrics and gynecology medical staff about the ultrasound photo A sent and will submit it as evidence.
After confirming with the actor, A never showed the actor a pregnancy test, and contrary to A's claim, there is absolutely no fact that the actor made remarks encouraging A to have an abortion.
Furthermore, on July 13, the day A claims she underwent the abortion, A suggested to the actor that they go ride bicycles together, and when the actor declined, A sent a video of herself riding a bicycle alone. The agency has secured and is keeping all those conversations and videos.
Pregnancy and abortion are very sensitive and serious matters. Nonetheless, A publicly posted on social media completely untrue claims such as that the actor pressured her to have an abortion after confirming the pregnancy, and as a result the actor has suffered serious reputational and image damage that will be difficult to recover from.
The agency will no longer respond by repeatedly rebutting the other party's false claims.
Based on the materials secured so far, we will immediately proceed with the civil and criminal legal procedures necessary so that the facts related to this case can be clearly revealed.
Finally, we politely ask that people refrain from indiscriminate speculation and amplification·reproduction of unverified claims, as that could cause additional harm not only to the actor but to all parties involved in the case.<
