"gag duo" Kim Dae-hee and Kim Jun-Ho conveyed their special 30-year friendship and unwavering sincerity toward comedy.
Kim Dae-hee and Kim Jun-Ho appeared on tvN You Quiz on the Block, which aired on the 19th, looked back on their time together as a 30-year gag duo, and expressed special affection for the Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), now in its 14th year.
That day the two revealed their heartfelt feelings toward BICF. It was disclosed that at the first festival, due to a budget shortfall, Kim Jun-Ho used his own money to keep the event going.
Kim Jun-Ho recalled, "Not only I but many people such as Kim Dae-hee and Song Eun I supported the event with donations and free appearances," and said, "the entire comedy community came together to continue the event."
A heartwarming anecdote about Yu Jae-seok was also revealed. It became known that Yu Jae-seok personally bought 200 tickets at the third BICF and distributed them to younger colleagues, adding to the warmth.
This year BICF prepared an even more special stage under the title "the return of the legend." Meaningful performances were arranged, including "the Jeon Yu-seong show without Jeon Yu-seong" honoring the late Jeon Yu-seong and the "Gu Bong-seo 100th anniversary special show."
Kim Jun-Ho said, "The BICF slogan 'Busan sea, sea of laughter' was directly coined by senior Jeon Yu-seong," expressing respect and longing for the senior.
Then Kim Dae-hee and Kim Jun-Ho revisited their 30-year relationship that began together from the first episode of Gag Concert. Kim Dae-hee recalled the moment when Kim Jun-Ho left a strong impression at the audition with his impersonations, and Kim Jun-Ho candidly revealed his first impression of Kim Dae-hee, saying, "I was relieved he wasn't funny," which caused laughter.
The two also talked about the reality of live comedy, where places to perform are gradually shrinking due to limited material. Nevertheless, Kim Jun-Ho warmly encouraged younger colleagues, saying, "I am really proud of the juniors who do not give up and seek new formats and material."
A special anecdote that offers a glimpse into their 30-year friendship was also revealed. When Kim Dae-hee founded JDB Entertainment with younger colleagues, he had even prepared a seat in advance for Kim Jun-Ho. It was a passage that suggests how the two have long been a solid support for each other.
Kim Dae-hee also shared a moment when he was grateful to Kim Jun-Ho. He confessed, "When I was alone at the airport waiting to return after hearing news that my father was critically ill, the text message 'I love you' from Kim Jun-Ho was an enormous moving moment," which moved listeners.
Kim Dae-hee and Kim Jun-Ho, who have walked the single path of comedy together for 30 years and have been each other's strong support, continue to draw attention and support for the new laughter and steps they will show through BICF.
Meanwhile, the 14th BICF will be held across Busan for 10 days, starting with the opening performance at Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) on the 21st. This festival, featuring comedians from home and abroad, is expected to deliver refreshing laughter to audiences through a variety of performances.
