Chef Jeong Ji-seon said she worked until a day before giving birth, which surprised many.
On the 19th, the YouTube channel Hyungsoo is K.WILL posted a video titled "Marla-flavored talk by married women chefs who made a single man in his 40s tremble."
That day K.WILL met with Jeong Ji-seon, Chinese cuisine witch, and Yoon Ju-mo as guests. Chef Jeong Ji-seon said she started her career at a Chinese restaurant after graduating from the hotel culinary department and studying in China.
She said, "In the past, discrimination between men and women was really severe. There was a time when they wouldn't even look at résumés. They wouldn't accept you because you were a woman," which surprised everyone.
Jeong Ji-seon recalled, "Even though I studied in China and had award records, I was rejected from the résumé stage. There was a perception that women would quit because of marriage and childbirth, so they didn't hire them."
In response, Chinese cuisine witch sympathized, "But it's actually true. Women most often leave for that reason. But what can you do? You have to give birth and raise the child. Who will raise them?"
Later, Jeong Ji-seon mentioned parental leave and said, "I worked until the day before giving birth. After leaving work I went to give birth the next day. The baby came 20 days earlier than the due date, so it was a bit dangerous," she said, surprising many.
