Former wrestling national team member Shim Kwon-ho's health condition was made public.
On the 18th, a video titled "Legend Shim Kwon-ho's reaction to seeing Makhachev's wrestling for the first time" was released on Kim Dong-hyun's YouTube channel StungunTV.
The video showed Shim Kwon-ho, Ko Seok-hyeon and Cha Doru analyzing Islam Makhachev's title fight with IAAN Gary. Shim Kwon-ho praised Makhachev's overwhelming grappling completeness and gave realistic advice to junior Ko Seok-hyeon, who competes in the same weight class, saying, "You grow quickly by sparring a lot with stronger, heavier upper-weight fighters and clashing with them physically."
In particular, Shim Kwon-ho's health condition was revealed, drawing attention. Earlier, Shim Kwon-ho underwent a health check on TV CHOSUN's The Lovers of Joseon and was diagnosed with early-stage liver cancer, raising concerns. After that, worries grew as his gaunt face was shown without appearing on broadcasts.
Regarding his health, Shim Kwon-ho said, "A few days ago I had the final procedure. It wasn't surgery but a procedure, so it's almost over." When Kim Dong-hyun asked, "Did the attending doctor say it has improved a lot?" Shim Kwon-ho laughed and said, "Doesn't my face look better too?"
Shim Kwon-ho said, "It was discovered during a health check. The liver is tricky and originally has no symptoms. It wasn't that my stamina had fallen, so it was baffling," adding, "Thanks to the broadcast, the illness was discovered by chance. The results will be very good."
Shim Kwon-ho added, "I'm building my body to move more healthily. I asked (Kim) Dong-hyun to work out with me when exercising," saying he is making special efforts to manage his health.
Meanwhile, Shim Kwon-ho won gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
