'Bloody Game X' Lee Tae-gyun spoke candidly about the violent incident that erupted during the "night of plunder."
On the afternoon of the 19th at Post Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, a joint interview was held with Wavve survival variety show Bloody Game X's Lee Jin-hyung and Lee Tae-gyun.
'Bloody Game X' is an extreme survival game for the physically strongest. In this series, Lee Tae-gyun participated as part of team P1 with Lee Sang-min, Park Ji-min, and Jeong Geun-woo, and Lee Jin-hyung participated as part of team P2 with Ha Seung-jin, Hyeon Seong-ju, and Yoon Bi to compete in survival matches.
Meanwhile, Lee Tae-gyun recounted the aftermath of the "night of plunder" episode, which drew criticism from viewers for the violent incident. At the time, P1, the team that included Lee Tae-gyun, collaborated with P3 (Hong Jin-ho, Seo Chul-gu, Choi Hye-seon, Heo Seong-beom) as an external alliance team, but amid the overheated atmosphere that escalated into violence, they ultimately chose after discussion to forgo opening safe No. 4. In the actual "night of plunder," since force was permitted, internal alliance member Shin Seung-yong and opponents such as Seo Chul-gu and Lee Sang-min confronted each other and injuries occurred after scuffles, and after the broadcast strong criticism was directed at Shin Seung-yong.
Regarding this, Lee Tae-gyun began by saying, "Events like the night of plunder are major content that appear every season of Bloody Game. Within Bloody Game they say some physical force is allowed, but it is still a rule inside the game, and that does not permit illegal actions that go against social order. I think it means 'even if some physical force is allowed on the broadcast, actively engage in play.'"
He explained the reason they chose to quit the game, saying, "Even looking at previous seasons, players push and pull aggressively and act to win the game, but I don't think they committed acts that would be regarded in society as illegal or immoral. But because, contrary to intent, someone was injured or such results occurred, there was a sense of overheating. In any case, within the framework of game rules they were playing actively, but since these unwanted results occurred contrary to intent, it seems we reached the agreement that stopping was the right thing to do."
He added, "Of course the players are more competitive than anyone and do not want to lose in the game. But when their competitiveness gets ahead of them and unwanted outcomes occur, it seems they decided to stop there."
By contrast, Lee Jin-hyung, who had been eliminated earlier and was not at the scene that day, said, "A third party watching someone's actions does not know what intent was behind them or why things happened, so passing judgment seems beyond their authority," but added with a laugh, "I was just sorry I wasn't there. It would have been really fun if I had been. If I had been there, with upgraded strength compared to last time I might have back hugged and stopped Chul-gu-type from exiting," he joked.
