Actor Lee Ji-min delicately completed Choi Sa-rang's final moments, in which she grows a little in the face of love, in Dream To You.
On the finale of the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama Dream To You (directed by Yoo Seon-dong, written by Jung Eun-bi), which aired on the 18th, Lee Ji-min naturally portrayed Choi Sa-rang's emotional changes—from a wavering heart toward Seo In-wook (played by Lee Sang-yeob) to the moment she accepts the breakup—drawing viewers' sympathy until the end.
Earlier, while filming a dating show, Choi Sa-rang fell into complicated emotions as she watched a female contestant burst into tears after being rejected by Seo In-wook. "Why are you crying? There are plenty of men," Choi Sa-rang said as if unconcerned, but she stiffened at the writer's remark that only fiery romance creates dopamine. It was the first moment she began to revisit the way of love she had taken for granted.
In particular, during the final selection filming of the dating show, Choi Sa-rang could not overcome regret and self-blame and eventually stormed out. She confessed to Seo In-wook, "I did something I shouldn't have," reflecting on how she had failed to properly appreciate the contestants' feelings, and honestly admitted, "I thought only my feelings were love, romance and destiny."
Though she knows romance novels better than anyone, Choi Sa-rang was clumsy when it came to her own love. Lee Ji-min heightened immersion by delicately expressing the character's process of reflecting on her love and growing to the next stage through nuanced emotional acting.
Meanwhile, at Joo I-jae's (Lee Hye-ri) request, Choi Sa-rang visited the set of the film "Gyeongseong Romance." Transformed into a 1930s modern girl, Choi Sa-rang, while acting a scene in which she is shot and falls, noticed Seo In-wook standing right beside her and slyly turned her body, drawing laughter.
Continuing to an embarrassed apology after the assistant director scolded her, asking why a dead person would get up again, she fully revealed Choi Sa-rang's quirky and lovable charm.
Choi Sa-rang accepted the breakup with Seo In-wook calmly as well. She honestly conveyed, "If this is love, I am not confident I can handle it. I still like things that are easy," and left a poignant aftertaste as she long watched Seo In-wook's retreating figure.
Afterward, Choi Sa-rang published a book titled "Easy love, difficult love." At a bookstore, she smiled when she spotted Seo In-wook secretly sweeping up copies of her book, and the story concluded while leaving an aftertaste about the two people's relationship.
Ahead of the finale, Lee Ji-min sincerely said, "I thought I was more familiar with love than anyone, but playing Choi Sa-rang—who was actually clumsy in front of her true feelings—I laughed a lot, worried and was happy. Thank you to the viewers who have cherished and supported Choi Sa-rang so far. I hope Sa-rang's cheerful and lovable moments remain long in your hearts as good memories."
In this work, Lee Ji-min brought Choi Sa-rang to life by naturally portraying not only her cheerful and quirky side but also the emotional line that gradually changes through love. Having shown another side through Dream To You, interest is focused on what works and characters Lee Ji-min will meet viewers with next.
