A friend stepped in to defend Girls' Generation member Yuri (Kwon Yuri) against baseless nitpicking.
MBC I Live Alone released a preview video recently showing Yuri's life while staying in Jeju.
The video showed Yuri waking up at 3 a.m., heading to the beach with a friend to do sunrise yoga and start her day. Yuri said she woke up before sunrise to make the most of the day and that she wanted to do sunrise yoga in front of the sea.
After slowly waking her body with sunrise yoga, Yuri headed to the car she had remodeled herself. Describing it as her own hideout for travel, Yuri said she believes that enduring some discomfort can bring special experiences and explained her way of life in Jeju.
While she eats salads and shapes her body with yoga, Yuri surprised viewers by taking out instant noodles and even eating bread for dessert, teasing an episode full of variety.
Viewers responded positively to Yuri's life in Jeju, saying, "She seems mentally and emotionally healthy," "She really looks like she lives happily," "She is healthy and has a warm humanity," and "This is the life I want."
Meanwhile, one netizen compared Yuri's life in Jeju to imitating Lee Hyori, who once lived in Jeju.
Some critics said Yuri's life in Jeju was for show. In response, a netizen who said they had met Yuri several times urged, "Have you not met Yuri in person? She is not the type to put on a show. I met her several times. She is really a wonderful friend. Please see her as she appears."
Yuri has lived in Jeju for more than three years. She appeared on Pinggyego in 2024 and revealed plans to live alone in Jeju; she expected it to be three weeks, but three years have passed, and last year she was even appointed as a Jeju promotional ambassador.
The MBC I Live Alone episode featuring Yuri's life in Jeju will air on the 21st.
