A new face appears in director Jang Jae-hyun's new film Vampir, the comeback film for Yoo Ah-in who received a suspended sentence on drug charges, after drawing 10 million moviegoers with the film Exhuma.
On the 18th, NEW released footage of a script reading, saying the film Vampir has completed its casting lineup and will begin full-scale filming in August.
At the script reading were Yoo Ah-in, Lee Sung-min, Lee Jun-hyuk, Yoon Kyung-ho, Choi Hyun-wook and the newcomer Doi, drawing attention.
Vampir is a mystery occult film about an unidentified contract agent who, at the request of a clergyman, pursues a mysterious pagan sect, and Doi plays a girl shrouded in mystery.
The Vampir side said Doi was chosen after a fierce audition, and industry sources say the audition competition rate was 1,000 to 1.
Kim Doi was born in 2008 and appeared on last year's Mnet Korea-Japan joint hip-hop survival show Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Pop Princess, finishing fifth. Having passed the final debut lineup, she debuted in May as a member of the girl group Hype Princess and is currently active.
Director Jang Jae-hyun has presented strong and captivating female characters in every work, such as Park So-dam in The Priests and Kim Go-eun in Exhuma, so attention is focused on the fresh charm Kim Doi will show.
However, concerns continue because it is Yoo Ah-in's comeback film. Yoo Ah-in was prosecuted after it became known that from September 2020 to March 2022 he habitually injected propofol and received illegal prescriptions for sleeping pills, and that he smoked marijuana in the United States in January 2022.
In the first trial Yoo Ah-in was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 2 million won and was taken into custody, but on appeal his sentence was reduced to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of 2 million won. The sentence was finalized by the Supreme Court last July.
Recently, director Jang Jae-hyun was seen attending the VIP screening of the film HOPE with Yoo Ah-in, prompting reactions that Yoo Ah-in's comeback was effectively confirmed, and the Vampir side formalized Yoo Ah-in's return by releasing footage of the script reading.<
