Actor Kwon Oh-jung's son celebrated his 30th birthday.
On the 18th, Kwon Oh-jung posted on his social media, "We, mom and dad, sincerely congratulate Kwon Hyuk-jun on his 30th (age 29) birthday. Thank God for protecting him until now. We love you, son," along with a video.
In the released video, Kwon Oh-jung revealed his son Hyuk-jun blowing out the candles stuck in the cake. Three large candles, meaning 30, were placed, and Hyuk-jun vigorously blew them out to celebrate his 30th birthday. Hyuk-jun received birthday cakes at restaurants, at home and in the studio and was delighted like a child, and Kwon Oh-jung hugged his son in a back hug, feeling moved.
Kwon Oh-jung's son, Hyuk-jun, is a rare disease patient who is one of only 15 people in the world to suffer from it. Kwon Oh-jung explained, "Hyuk-jun does not have a disease name. It is a gene protein's designation. It was first discovered in 2014 and we learned about it in 2018. There are no medicines to treat it and no doctors developing one. Our son is the first in Korea, and there are a few after him, and globally there are fewer than a dozen or so."
Because of this, he suffered difficulties, including being a victim of school violence in middle school, but Hyuk-jun safely graduated from university in 2023 and is continuing new challenges by learning acting and painting. Although he failed to win prizes in contests, he instead got an opportunity to hold his first exhibition at the Seoul Arts Center and even sold paintings.
Kwon Oh-jung said, "This year he was invited to Seattle and New York and became a painter," revealing his son's recent status, and added, "There are so many outstanding artists, but Hyuk-jun has no greed at all. He has no thought of needing to paint well. He paints memories he likes, whether applying or brushing paint. Even when he paints a yacht on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, he covers it with ocean color. He is unrestrained. He likes the exhilaration that comes from that. I think the encouragement from those who paint together like that is the strength to live."
Meanwhile, Kwon Oh-jung married Ms. Eom Yoon-kyung, who is six years his senior, in 1996.
