The three children of the late Robin Williams have embarked on a meaningful project to protect their deceased father's honor and legacy.
On the 17th (local time), according to the Daily Mail, Robin Williams's children Jack (43), Zelda (37) and Cody (34) released a joint statement saying they would reactivate and personally run their father's official Instagram account.
In their statement, the children said "As the year their father would have turned 75 approaches, we are grateful to see a new generation discover his work and longtime fans continue to celebrate the joy he brought," and explained the reason for the relaunch: "As technology advances, we hope this place can be a safe and trustworthy space where our father's stories, photos, videos and memories can be preserved with authenticity and warmth."
The relaunch of the official account is also largely intended to protect their father's portrait rights and voice against the indiscriminate spread of AI-generated content.
Daughter Zelda Williams said after the account was reactivated, "We have learned that creating a place where people can find our father's real videos and photos is the best way to fight the rampant AI misuse of his voice and image here."
Earlier, Zelda expressed strong disgust and anger toward AI fake content to fans last year, saying, "Please stop sending AI-synthesized videos of my father. Watching the legacy of a real person be manipulated just because they 'look and sound similar' is maddening."
Meanwhile, Robin Williams, who tragically died in August 2014 at the age of 63, was later revealed to have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia, news that saddened fans worldwide. His children commemorate his birthday each year and encourage warm acts to carry on his wishes.<
