Group member of WJSN and solo artist Dayoung revealed her story.
On the 18th broadcast of MBC 'Playlist 109' (hereinafter 'PLI'), Lee Jun, Lee Seokhoon, DinDin and Dayoung met, and Dayoung said she prepared her solo song on her own, surprising viewers.
That day Dayoung said her parents divorced when she was seven and that she was from a remarried family. She said she learned at a young age about debts left by her biological father and felt, "This is no joke."
Dayoung said she grew up helping with her mother's restaurant. But because she dreamed of becoming a singer from the age of five, she tried auditions and survival programs, saying, "My dream was to fill the stage by myself."
After debuting and promoting with WJSN, when it came time for contract renewals Dayoung told her company, "I want to do solo music," but the company opposed, saying, "No. Do you know how difficult the solo market is?"
Dayoung said, "I accepted and left, and immediately decided, 'I'll show them.'" She said, "Then I asked for three months' leave. The next day I booked a flight and went to LA because I felt there was not enough time," which surprised people.
Dayoung confessed, "It was tough in LA. It cost a lot, but the hardest part was finding people to work with because I had no notable track record."
She said that by promoting and persuading people about her music she acquired a song called "BODY," and that she revised it more than 40 times to make it what it is now, drawing support.
