Actor Hayden Panettiere, well known for the U.S. dramas "Heroes" and "Nashville" and the "Scream" film series, has died at the age of 36.
On the 16th (local time), U.S. outlet ABC News reported that Hayden Panettiere died that day. The exact cause of death has not been revealed.
Hayden Panettiere's Spokesperson told ABC, "We are deeply saddened to share the tragic passing of Hayden, whom we loved dearly," and mourned, "She was an amazing light and a force of enormous energy who brought immeasurable love and joy to everyone who knew her and to the millions of fans who watched her on screen."
Panettiere debuted as a child actor at age 5 in 1994, and in 2006 she joined the popular NBC drama "Heroes" as cheerleader Claire Bennet, earning widespread affection. She later was twice nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Juliette Barnes in the drama "Nashville," and she is also well known for her role as Kirby in the 2011 film "Scream 4."
According to reports, Hayden Panettiere published her first book in May, "This Is Me: A Reckoning." In the book she revealed the stories behind a life in the spotlight, her fraught relationship with her mother, and the abuse she endured throughout her Hollywood life, sharing specific and intimate pain.
She also did not hide from the public that she struggled for years with alcohol and drug addiction. In 2020 she stayed at a rehabilitation facility and succeeded in becoming sober. But in 2023, she suffered the tragedy of her younger brother Jansen's sudden death at the age of 28 from a heart condition.
Meanwhile, Hayden Panettiere had a daughter, Kaea, with former world heavyweight boxing champion Vladimir Klitschko, but Klitschko gained custody because of Panettiere's addiction issues and postpartum depression.
