Writer Lee Sinhwa, who wrote the popular baseball drama 'Stove League', announced her split from the production company.
On the 14th, Lee Sinhwa wrote on her personal Instagram, "It seems like I'm leaving news after a long time. To get straight to the point, it was a Buksan ending. I recently terminated the contract with the production company I belonged to," she said.
That day Lee Sinhwa said, "There were many stories I had created over the years, but due to various circumstances they ultimately did not reach completion. However, because of the faith you gave me, I still have affection and conviction for the stories that ultimately did not reach you," she explained.
She added, "While praising my author life that was like a flame, I will also respect all the steady things in this world."
The "Buksan ending" the writer referred to describes the ending in the manga "Slam Dunk" in which Buksan High miraculously defeats the powerhouse Sanwoong Technical High but then is ultimately eliminated in the next game. From Lee Sinhwa's writing, it appears she prepared several follow-up works after "Stove League" but they did not proceed to actual production and scheduling.
Meanwhile, "Stove League", for which Lee Sinhwa wrote the script, began in 2019 with a 3.3% rating for episode 1 and ended with a 19.1% rating in the finale. Because of this, Namkoong Min won the grand prize at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards.
Because of this many fans expected a season 2, but no concrete production has been confirmed. In particular, with more than seven years passing without talk of a sequel, the atmosphere has continued that season 2 may effectively be canceled.
