Actress Lee Yo-won said she gives her children history lessons once a week.
On the 15th episode of KBS 2TV Mr. House Husband season 2 (hereinafter "Mr. House Husband 2"), a scene showed siblings Park Seo-jin and her brother doing a special run to commemorate Liberation Day.
That day Park Seo-jin revealed she has recently taken up painting minhwa as a hobby and had previously visited the National Museum of Korea, saying she has grown more interested in history.
He said, "I will run hard and learn more about history. The more you know history, the more interesting it seems," and showed himself attempting an 8.15km run to commemorate Liberation Day.
Upon hearing this, Lee Yo-won said, "Yes. Our children also take a history class once a week and they enjoy it very much."
Recently, as controversy arose over historical awareness regarding actress Ha-young, Lee Yo-won's remark that she regularly gives her children history lessons drew attention. Lee Yo-won married businessman and former golf player Park Jin-woo in 2003 and has one son and two daughters.
Meanwhile, Ha-young appeared on KBS 2TV Problem Child in House and said her great-grandfather opened the first Western-style hospital in Hanyang after studying in Japan and treated even Emperor Gojong.
However, records including a 1918 article in the Maeil Sinbo, the official newspaper of the Japanese general government, showed his great-grandfather married a Japanese woman and followed Japanese ways of life, raising suspicions of pro-Japanese actions.
As the controversy spread, Ha-young posted a handwritten apology on her social media on the 12th and directly explained her position. Ha-young apologized, saying, "After learning about my great-grandfather's past actions, I reflected on my family's history with a heavy heart."
