On the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day, people in the entertainment industry are spending meaningful time in their own ways.
First, Kang Seung-yoon and Kim Nam-gil posted photos of the taegeukgi on their respective social media accounts as soon as the 15th arrived to commemorate Liberation Day.
In addition, G-Dragon uploaded part of the stage video for Taeyang's "Ringa Linga," which he featured on. Notably, the video includes the lyric "raise your hand like it's liberation," showing that G-Dragon uploaded the video to commemorate Liberation Day.
Actor Kim You Jung, who appears in the upcoming work "100Days Of Lies," commemorated Liberation Day by posting a Liberation Army taegeukgi, and actor Lee Dongwook revealed his doll Ukdong holding a taegeukgi and added "Liberation Day."
Meanwhile, broadcaster-turned-host Park Ji-yoon recommended binge-watching "Mr. Sunshine" as good history education for children who watch cultural content with their parents. Chef Son Jong-won, who appeared on "Chef & My Fridge" and "Culinary Class Wars 2," shared an Instagram post from Itanic Garden, where he is the executive chef, and added a "taegeukgi" emoji.
The post said, "If those who devoted themselves to our country had not existed, we would not be here now," and added, "To commemorate this meaningful day together and reflect on its meaning, we prepared candles and refreshments. I hope it will be a meaningful Liberation Day that allows us to revisit the precious values we must remember."
Also, the donation marathon "815 Run," which reflects on the meaning of Liberation Day and expresses gratitude to independence patriots, was held again this year. Hwang Jae-gyun, who participated in the marathon, said, "8.15km, today I ran for meaning rather than record. Remembering the sacrifices and courage of all those who made it possible for us to run freely today," he said.
Actor Park Bo Gum also attends the marathon every year. This year, he again shared photos of running with Sean.
Meanwhile, Baekga confessed for the first time in his 22-year career that he is a descendant of an independence activist. He said, "Actually, my great-great-grandfather was an independence activist. I never told even my bandmates, whom I've worked with for more than 20 years. The reason I never brought it up is that mentioning my great-great-grandfather's name might seem like I'm riding on his achievements or might give that impression. So I never said it even once," he said.
Baekga explained his great-great-grandfather, saying, "His pen name was Gyeong-rim, and his courtesy name was Jin Hee-chang. He was one of the important independence activists who supported the finances and operations when the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was in Shanghai," he said.
He then mentioned his great-great-grandfather's achievements and the situation of independence activists at the time, and added via subtitles, "Independence patriots who crossed borders and never even once had a passport in the name of the motherland. We will not forget the noble dedication of all independence activists who gave their bodies for the country."
