Psick University members revealed for the first time on the broadcast why they formed the team.
On the 14th, the YouTube channel Brewmaster Yun posted a video titled Yunjudang (finally) the appearance of Psick University | Liberation Talk EP.20.
That day Brewmaster Yun asked the Psick University members about the background of forming the team, saying, "Was Lee Yongju the first to say let's do this together?" Lee Yongju explained, "Jaehyung and I have known each other since we were aspiring comedians. Jung Jae-hyung passed KBS open recruitment, and I passed SBS open recruitment. Kim Min-su is from the same year as me."
Hearing this, Jung Jae-hyung said, "We didn't immediately do Psick University; we prepared a stand-up comedy performance. But the theater rental fee was too expensive. For pragmatic reasons, we decided we needed more people," and said they recruited Kim Min-su.
In response, Kim Min-su said, "Is that so?" and "I learned that for the first time in 10 years," surprised. But Jung Jae-hyung, unfazed, replied, "If it wasn't like that, (Lee Yongju and I) would split it between the two of us," drawing laughter.
At that moment Lee Yongju suddenly asked about the theater rental fee at the time. Lee Yongju answered 170,000 won, and Jung Jae-hyung answered 450,000 won, prompting surprise, and Jung Jae-hyung said, "That brother doesn't know anything. I did all the money calculations."
Then Lee Yongju asked, "Did you skim off the top?" and Jung Jae-hyung immediately shot back, "Maybe you paid less, hyung." Listening in between, Kim Min-su burst out laughing at Lee Yongju's peculiar calculation, saying, "Hyung paid 170,000 won and here paid 450,000 won, and you call that skimming off the top?"
Meanwhile, Psick University is a three-member YouTube creator from Korea that in 2023 won the entertainment award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for Psick Show, achieving the milestone of being the first YouTube content to be nominated for and win a Baeksang Arts Award.
