Model Lee Hyun-ee's husband Hong Seong-gi visited the United States with their eldest son Yoon-seo and was surprised by the prices.
On the 13th, Hong Seong-gi headed to the United States with his son Yoon-seo. Earlier on Lee Hyun-ee's YouTube channel, she said she knew well that Yoon-seo was very interested in U.S. boarding schools and in science study, so she told him about Johns Hopkins University's gifted summer school and he studied on his own and was accepted.
At the time, Lee Hyun-ee said she had trouble preparing the documents, but Hong Seong-gi handled everything. She also said that Hong Seong-gi told her he would take their son there. The camp expense exceeds $8,000, and Lee Hyun-ee had also mentioned that there is a separate fee when taking the exam.
Hong Seong-gi seemed to be spending a happy time with his eldest son. But he wrote, "If you eat like this it's 210,000 won..." including one hamburger, one salad and two drinks. His son Yoon-seo added the line "a friend who ate 180,000 won worth of kimbap alone," which conveyed how high the cost of Korean food is locally in the United States.
Internet users reacted variously, saying, "Is it an exchange rate issue, a Korean food issue, or a hotel price issue?", "Wow, I thought prices were high when I went to the U.S. 10 years ago, but it's even crazier now", and "A father who follows his son all the way to the U.S. for his education."
Meanwhile, Hong Seong-gi is employed at S Electronics and was recently promoted to Director General. He and model Lee Hyun-ee have two sons.
